PARA 0255 - Paramedic Skills

Introduces advanced level paramedic skills along with scenario-based labs. Paramedic Skills I incorporates the use of MSSU Simulation Lab and well as the Paramedic Simulation Lab. Paramedic Skills I focuses on advanced skills (needle decompression of the chest, mechanical ventilation, cricothyrotomy, pediatric rapid sequence intubation) and incorporating them into scenario-based practice. Paramedic Skills I includes American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support during lab hours. Prerequisites: PARA 248, PARA 251, PARA 252, PARA 253, PARA 254, PARA 256 and PARA 370. Corequisites: BIO 121, PARA 272, PARA 273 and PARA 390. One hour of lecture and four hours of lab per week.
