CHEM 0400 - Elementary Physical Chemistry

Spring 4 Credit Hours
A macroscopic approach to the understanding of chemical and physical properties of chemical systems is used. The principles of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics, and their application to aqueous solutions, will be emphasized. Solution equilibria, spectroscopy, and transport processes will also be examined. Three lectures, one three-hour laboratory per week. Prerequisite: CHEM 0142   with a ‘C’ or better and PHYS 0162   or PHYS 0270  with a grade of ‘C’ or better and MATH 0150  with a grade of ‘C’ or better.
