MUS 0310 - Black Music of Two Worlds

Spring 3 Credit Hours
A survey of traditional African music, popular/modern African music, and African-American music. Traditional African music is at the core of many popular music styles around the world today. This course will trace the passage of traditional African music ideas through modern times and it’s influence on many African-American types of music including: blues, gospel, jazz, hip-hop, and rap.
