SUAS 0101 - Introduction to Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Operations and Safety Demand 3 Credit Hours Introduction to sUAS Ops and Safety is a fundamental course that is designed to provide instruction on how to safely operate a small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS), commonly called a drone, in the United States National Airspace System (NAS). Emphasis is on the basic requirements necessary to commercially operate an sUAS and to lay the foundation to attain FAA certification as a Remote Pilot. Course objectives include sUAS characteristics and capabilities, the sUAS operating environment, required capabilities of the remote pilot, crew resource management, principles of threat and error management of sUAS Ops, non-normal operations and contingencies; and an introduction to sUAS career paths and recreational and commercial applications. Two hours of lecture and one two-hour lab per week. Basic knowledge of physics and mathematics is recommended. Two hours of lecture and one two-hour lab per week.
