EDUC 0580 - Instructional Techniques for Teaching English Language Learners Fall,, Spring 3 Credit Hours Current program designs for teaching English language learners with a focus on English as a second language and sheltered immersion. Recent methodologies in language teaching, such as task-based and content-based instruction. Effective techniques for developing language skills, curriculum development, lesson planning, needs and task analysis. M.S.Ed., TESOL students will be required to complete additional course projects to meet the rigor required for graduate level work. The projects may include individual and/or class case studies, school and/or district ESL planning, assessments for state or federal projects as well as professional development for their respective building or school district. Course projects will be aligned with course objectives and state competencies for TESOL. Projects will be determined by the course instructor with approval by the graduate school. The project outline will be submitted and approved according to state standards and indicators matrix. The project will be threaded throughout the M.S.Ed., TESOL content.
