ART 0331 - Gemstone Fabrication and Lapidary Techniques

Demand 3 Credit Hours
Studio course introducing fundamental gemstone fabrication and lapidary techniques and finishing processes of fine art jewelry and metalsmithing. Skills will be acquired to plot, shape, facet and polish rough stone into gemstones to be mounted into settings. Techniques of lapidary will be employed to create gemstones for the use in small-scale functional and/or non-functional objects. Six (6) studio hours per week. Prerequisite: ART 0205  or permission of instructor.
