PSY 0310 - Educational Psychology


Fall, Spring & Summer 3 Credit Hours
A practical application of psychological principles to teaching. Students will learn how research is conducted in educational psychology and how to apply concepts to key topics such as assessment and evaluation, attention, executive function, child and adolescent development, critical thinking, culture, gender, goals and goal setting, individual differences, intelligence, learning, memory, metacognition, mindset, motivation, problem-solving, personality and temperament, socioeconomic status, and transfer of knowledge in their future classrooms. Designed primarily for education majors, the course is also open to students from other disciplines with an interest in education. Prerequisite: PSY 100 with a minimum grade of ‘C’.
