NURS 0486 - Leadership, Management, and Nursing Practice Fall, Spring 4 Credit Hours This course will relate concepts for nursing professionals to develop leadership strategies, frameworks of being, and situational leadership or management models in healthcare environments. An overview of the personal characteristics and mindsets the nurse leader must hone to increase their influence upon unique environments in practice. Differences in leadership versus management of nursing units or healthcare systems will be discussed. The relevancy of current nursing practice and challenges of key aspects influencing the profession such as safe staffing, culture, governance, innovation, and resilience is highlighted. Prerequisites: admittance to the RN to BSN nursing program, minimum GPA of 2.8, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Missouri OR compact state, Pre-requisite nursing courses as listed in the admission section of the catalog; NURS 431 and NURS 437 and NURS 444 and NURS 451 and NURS 458 all with a grade of ‘C’ or higher.
