JS 0540 - The Civil Rights Movement

3 Credit Hours
A study of the African-American struggle for civil rights. While surveying the period from the end of Reconstruction to the present day, this course will focus primarily on events from 1954-1968. This graduate-level course may meet concurrently with HIST 320, but students may not enroll in both the undergraduate and graduate courses simultaneously. Undergraduate students who enroll in 540 must have instructor permission, are required to complete all the graduate coursework, and may be able to count hours toward a graduate degree (but this is not guaranteed). Prerequisite for undergraduates: Junior level standing, a 3.2 GPA, and permission of the instructor. Prerequisite: HIST 0120 .
